First Trip to Europe

Goin' on home...

Last night here. In fact last 8 hours here. Except I leave Derricks apartment at around 5:15ish. Catch the damn ferry. I'm screwed. My luggage is so heavy... Mum is picking me up at 11am. I really can't wait to go home. I'm ready to pack all my stuff for Toronto. I'm actually really really excited.

I mean, I love London, but there's nothing here for me to do but spend money, thats why I hate it. I havnet buoght enough money nor have I scheduled enough time to see everythign so I'm frustrated. But Barcelona was wicked, because I had time to rest in between, take my time to see all the sights in the two weeks I was there. But London, I'm frustrated. I ahvent seen everything I'd like.

I'm too afraid to sleep because I'm afraid I'll sleep in and miss my flight. I really want to go home.

So I'm comin' home scotties.

Gay Pride

Alright, my favourite thing to do in a new city is getting lost. After attempting to frantically calla nd find Chris to get him to still meet me in Leicester Square, and failed, I just walked thorugh Trafalger Square, Picadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, down Soho.... and what do I find? The hugest Gay festival I have ever seen!

The parade was at 10am. The streets of Soho closed between 10am-12 midnight. There are stages everywhere with loud crazy music with men in very short shorts dancing like I do. Every second door was a pub. They moved their seatings outside on to the sidewalk (people are now walking on the street instead) and people dancing inside and out. I choose a pub and sat down. This gay couple from Manchester next to me obought me two beers!!!!! They were awesome people, and invited me to go out with them, and I was thinking, I can never go to a club with extremely gorgeous men that I cannot have. It'll drive me crazy. So I didn't . Now I'm at home. Exhausted from my almost 12 hour outing...

London Tour Bus

Man, today what a day what a day... I woke up super early to go on the London Bus tour... The stop I wanted to go on was embankment, but no. There was the Annual London Marathon. So I thought okay this can't be that long. No. I stood on the Jubilee Bridge for 20 minutes before I realized I should walk to Charing Cross. Jumped ont he bus, 16 pounds.

Went to St. Pauls Cathedral. Now originally I was not going to go to this Cathedral. I thought, damn, I went to so many in Barcelona, this won't be any different. But seriously, this Cathedral made me want to become religious again. Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married there in 1981. Christopher Wren, heros and leader figures are buried in the CRYPT. Seriously, who says crypt these days? We say "memorial" COOL. So now, my dream is to be so rich when I decide to get married, that I will get married in the St. Paul's Cathedral. Gorgeous Cathedral.

Afterwards, wetn to the Tower of London But first of coruse I had to cross the Tower Bridge normally mistakenly taken as London Bridge. London bridge is just a boring bridge. Tower Bridge is rad. I took tonnes of pictures. I thought I was going to only ahng around the Tower of London for an hour-ish. No, I hung around for THREE HOURS!

Then there was the cruise That was boring. I almost fell asleep.

Dear Tony Blair, the Queen and Paul Martin:

Canada and Great Britain has always had excellent relations between the two. But now it has come to most Canadians', especially students', attention that the currency difference is beginning to show no love for Canadian wallets. In Canada you can buy a starbucks coffee for 3 dollars, in the UK the same coffee would be 3 pounds minus whip cream. Ridiculas. Something needs to be done. I find myself starving myself each day because I feel that a sandwich worth 2 canadian dollars is not worth 10 canadian dollars. With the currency being 2.7, thats almost 3 times of all costs, it rips Canadians away from this great country. Something needs to be done.

And another thing.... WHY DOESNT ANYONE IN LONDON RECYCLE??????????????????????

AHHH It drives me absolutely insane that people throw away their popcans, and it drives me even more insane when I put my pop can next to the garbage can, someone just throws it away!!! Why isnt recylcing encouraged? Grrr///

London Callin'

Man, when I got here in Derrick's apartment, I almost cried. This place as always been a dream to me. A movie, a song, it was never realistic, or something that I thought would be my sight. His window that views the London Eye and Big Ben, my man, is like a moving painting. I sat on his window ledge for hours.

Yesterday, before we had extremely expensive but "cheap" beef noodles chinese food in their pretty lame China town (our China town is far more impressive) Derrick took me around most of Central London on foot. It was awesome. All tourists of course, but hey, what can you do. It's soo expensive. I've already spent 30 pounds, thats almost 100 dollars! 20 pounds on a 7 days pass, I thought that was SO cheap... Until I realized it was 50 dollars. It's better than spending 6 pounds a day for a day pass.

Today, I'm off to Tate Modern, its only ONE bus away. Man I totally scored on this location.

The people here are radical. They aren't rude. Perry's right, the rudest people are in Vancouver. People here carry my luggage for me onto the train, and off and down and up the stairs, when I was in the airport nobody gave a shit about me there or when I had to lug my luggage around when my dad dropped me off people just stared, same with when I had to carry two huge bags to downtown Vancouver through the b-line (not a pretty sight). Yeesh. Oh god, what am I doing in here, I'm out, off to the Tate Modern and to the Globe Theatre. OOOOOOOOOO SHAKESPEARE!

You probably can't see but there are four men on the stage, the guy wearing a peru shirt is err, i forgot his name but he's from madrid, and the man on the left is from it was either greece or italy the other two who knows.

I'm too lazy to upload pictures. I know thats what everybody wants to see, is just pictures but too bad. Two nights ago went to the fountain. We wished we were on drugs. We took pictures of japanese tourists, bums, street kids, and birds.

The next day, we went to La Rambla, and bought a bunch of shit.

And last night, I took pictures of half naked men who were dancing on the counters. One of them was gorgeous, the others looked gay. One looked gayer than gay. I didn't knwo that was possible. He was wearing short cut jean shorts (As short as Vicky's no wait maybe even shorter) and dancing like a maniac. I took a picture of men dancing on the stage and the women just dancing to the side. IT's sooo strange...
Last weeks hot dancer was there but at a different clubnext to it.. I took a picture of him but not soo great...
AND OMG. Hot Italian, I'll tell you more about that because I gotta go. Boy do I have a story for you.

North American Men VS European Men

Here is my "sociology paper on metrosexuals and men around the world"

Travelling to just this one country with tourists from around europe mainly in Barcelona, I have come to find that most european young men are metro sexuals. They are gorgeous creatures who work on their bodies as much and sometimes more than women. They have perfect tans, hairless legs, soft but still masculine skin, muscular beautiful bodies, fashionable clothes (not clothes ten times too big for you, but clothes that fit perfectly) and perfect hair that shines like silk. They smell like flowers and spice. They have a mix of feminity yet still very masculine with their gorgeous bodies

Now most North Americans (except Matt and Chris), the young men here are a disgrace. They wear clothes too big for them, they are actually dirty, slobs, hair that grow outrageously like a jungle or they just shave it all off, they dont' really carea bout anything, they are in love with the hair on their chests, legs, backs and face, they love being pale and only tan when they are active with sports (which if fine but often ends up with a gross Farmer's tan). And worst of all, they are addicted to fast food chains. Canada not so bad with the regular McDicks, Harveys, Wendys, Pizza joints, subways, Arby's, but in the US even worse, with Jack in the Box and Carl Jr.... they often turn very unhealthy. North American (Canadians and Americans) males often ponder why all the females want to go to London so badly and so quickly fall in love with europeans. Well, honeys, I can tell you its not just they're cute accent.

But after admitting I am in love with metro sexuals, I have come to a realization it's an opposite timeline. The old men in Europe almost always ends up settling down, afterwards forgetting all their good looks and turn fat and ugly and smelly, They are happy of course but they do not take care of themselves anymore because they're tired of keeping up with it. Whereas in North America, the men comes to a realization what women really want (if any of you have seen WHAT WOMEN WANT with Mel Gibson, you'll understand) and they start to shapen up. Perhaps not as extreme as the young Europeans, but at least they start eating healthier, and dressing nicely. How many 40 year olds dress like Tony Hawk compared to 40 year olds dressed like Mel Gibson or Brad Pitt?

I rest my case. I think I'll move to Europe and go there as often as I can until I'm about 30-35. I'll move to New York around 45. I know I'm shallow, but all people in life are shallow whether you likeit or not. I just admit to it.

Euro 2006

Alright, it's decided...

After this year's university, I'm going to take a year off. I'm going to work as a bartender and a porn store clerk (that means sell product NOT my body for lotsa dough) to make loads of money. I'm going to save 25 grand up and pay off my student debt, then go to Europe for 5 months in 2006. Why? Well here's the plan...

February 10th-26th 2006 OLYMPIC GAMES IN ITALY!!!
I'll be in Torino for 17 days.
Then I'll travel around Italy and Greece in the month, Milan, Florence, Rome, Venice, Athens you name it. (By this time I would have spent around 8000)

Late March, April and May I'll work full time hardcore in pubs in London to build up the cash flow a little more. Hopefully make about 200-300 pounds/week for 9 weeks. THEN... off to France for a few days then... GERMANY for the WORLD CUP!!!!!!!!!!

There are 10 host cities in Germany and I plan to travel through about five including Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and all those german cities...

I come back early July work July and August in Toronto or Vancouver and go back to school for err, second year.

Oh god, what a plan...

I know, why am I thinking this when I'm in europe RIGHT NOW? Well, I can't sleep, and it's late. So I decided tomake plans.

Vicky and I used to write lists of what we would do with a million dollars when we were bored in Magee's law class....

Any one want to join me for any part of my adventure?

The one thing I'm glad about is that there are not many bugs. Woot woot.

Well about two days ago. I believe July 19th, we went to the train station to buy train tickets to Madrid. Seriously the guy scrweeed it up or something because I thought it was going to cost at LEAST 70 euros. But no, only 53 euros there and back!!! Sweet eh?

La Rambla - Beach

Well yesterday the day before, thats the 17th Saturday, Chris and I took the La Rambla tour from my "Insight Pocket Guide of Barcelona" We started at the Placa de Catalunya, the "meeting point of the old and new cities" Apparently it is also a place for demostrations, sorta like Vancouver's Art Gallery. Man we are so dull compared to Spain.

Bionca, the dutch roommate, is in love with Vancouver, she even has a tattoo of a maple leaf. She hasnt even BEEN THERE!!!

Anyway, here's the picture of hte very top of La Rambla, I took pictures of Placa de Catalunya on my manual camera in black and white, so you can only see them after I've developed them. If you look in the background of this picture you can see the building right at the back very white, thats placa de catalunya.

On La Rambla, there are so many Pan Handlers that Lorne Mayencroft (BC Liberal who's trying to make pan handling illegal) would FREAK! We only took pictures of hte funny ones of course, but here's one of this poor dog dressed up with glasses. He looks sooo funny.

Now everyone has told me that when I'm in Barcelona the one thing I must get are shoes. Shoes shoes shoes. And my go dthere are shoes everywhere. Mostly the ballet looking ones that are round on the top and leather with a strip, shoes that when I was a kid I wore. Here's apicture of me drooling at shoes.... SHOES!!!!

they seriously sell shoes of all sorts, so bright, i love hte bright shoes.. but sneakers i can get at home, i'm here to get round puffy things. (as you may have noticed, i'm wearing the canadian lanyard, canadian pride yo)

As we kept walking I saw this gorgeous building (beginning to be passe but I aint tired of it!) and the doors were opened, so we went inside, it turned out to be a church, they have these gorgeous catholic statues, kinda creepy but not. we went inside and turned off the flash and took pictures. (and even one of Chris praying)

And here is a picture of a building called Palau Guell, the count's town house, which was designed by Gaudi. There were guided tours but we had to wait an hour for hte next one to start so we said forget it.
It's supposidely a gloomy looking place inside, I really wanted to see... meh

These next picture are pictures of the Placa Reial, one of the city's liveliest squares. Apparently at night its very very very vibrant, but we were there during the day time: the entrance of the square

Well yesterday the day before, thats the 17th Saturday, Chris and I took the La Rambla tour from my "Insight Pocket Guide of Barcelona" We started at the Placa de Catalunya, the "meeting point of the old and new cities" Apparently it is also a place for demostrations, sorta like Vancouver's Art Gallery. Man we are so dull compared to Spain.

Bionca, the dutch roommate, is in love with Vancouver, she even has a tattoo of a maple leaf. She hasnt even BEEN THERE!!!

Anyway, here's the picture of hte very top of La Rambla, I took pictures of Placa de Catalunya on my manual camera in black and white, so you can only see them after I've developed them. If you look in the background of this picture you can see the building right at the back very white, thats placa de catalunya.

On La Rambla, there are so many Pan Handlers that Lorne Mayencroft (BC Liberal who's trying to make pan handling illegal) would FREAK! We only took pictures of hte funny ones of course, but here's one of this poor dog dressed up with glasses. He looks sooo funny.

Now everyone has told me that when I'm in Barcelona the one thing I must get are shoes. Shoes shoes shoes. And my go dthere are shoes everywhere. Mostly the ballet looking ones that are round on the top and leather with a strip, shoes that when I was a kid I wore. Here's apicture of me drooling at shoes.... SHOES!!!!

As we kept walking I saw this gorgeous building (beginning to be passe but I aint tired of it!) and the doors were opened, so we went inside, it turned out to be a church, they have these gorgeous catholic statues, kinda creepy but not. we went inside and turned off the flash and took pictures. (and even one of Chris praying)

It's supposidely a gloomy looking place inside, I really wanted to see... meh

Last night I slept at 10. I was unbelievably tired fromt he night before... more than 8 hours of club hopping. Dude this place is soo much fun. So instead yesterday we went to watch Shrek 2, by the way awesome movie so cute. Then to the zoo... Zoo was 12 fucken euros. so we said no way hose. We also went to the train station to buy our tickets, i think the guy fucked itup coz 53 euros for roudn tickets sounds rather cheap... its usually 53 euros for one way!!!

This morning because I slept so early, i woke upat 7:15. Then I just stayed in bed until around 8, and treid to get the pizza we had eaten last night but I didnt fiinish it in Chris' room. He freaked out even though I didnt make ANY NOISE!! So weird.

Went to the beach allll on my own. Every sure like sto stare. I just stare right back. Beach for 2 hours. I couldnt tell if I had tanned at the beach coz it was so bright but now that I'm inside back at the apartment, i'm soooo dark. I love it.

Chris and I did lots today, La Rambla, some other places I can't describe. No time to describe all that. Just here to tell you about me just getting home 6am. First time partying until 6am. First time partying outside of north america!!!! Wait, shit I forgot about Cuba.

But I must say this place is beautiful and the only and only complaint I have here is service.
the service SUCKS
they need to impose a tipping tradition so people will give do a better job and be faster.

I have taken sooo many pictures so many funny ones of chris and me...... we went to picasso and such.. ohg od its beautiful

we went to this club today with chris' two roommates, one from cali and the other from holland, and it was sooo much fun. it was all the hiphop poppy songs (which i LOVE), and me and kate (the american) went nuts... we were getting restless when they wereplaying the crappy european-loved songs like that stupid hamster song, and was about to go home when... they played YEAH (usher for all you idiots) and we got up
we seriously owned that club.
the pan & company underneath where all the tents, tehre's like 10 clubs in a row, all free cover coz its nice and small. locals but lots of brits too. hot ones

they lovedus, we seriously went nuts, i did the britney (but didnt lay ont he floor, but crawled and did the "i'm slippin' under" part)

people would clear the dance floor when we stopped dancing and when we did they did
and there was this hot male go go dancer we danced with.... there are poles on the bar, and he was dancing on the bar, and we jumped up and danced with him.

seriously the spanairds dance like degrassi, the girls do i mean
the guys go all out, its seriously backwards here in bcn...soooooooo weird... (you know how the clubs in north america, it's all girls onthe dance floor going all out and the guys are the wall flowers watching??? weird)

gotta sleep, chris is sleeping outside on the couch, hhaha,

Spiderman - Pans & Co. - Beach - Groceries

Man, first day was funny (yesterday)
Chris was dying to watch Spiderman 2 so we did... With Spanish subtitles underneath. I really seriously cannot believe the first thing I did in this gorgeous and vibrant city was... WATCH A NORTH AMERICAN MOVIE! sheesh.

Right outside the theatre there is all this weird stuff in th emiddle of the road, built for the olympics in 1992.

Cars park wherever the fuck they want. It's really weird. We surely do have too many laws in Canada. The stupid 3 metre parking from the corner law.. They park right on the corner. It's funny.

There was this statue of a great big colourful man and I thought I'd hug him. The picture turned out to be very sexual looking... After seeing it I was like... This is kind of disturbing.. Meh

There are hundreds of scooters around. I want one.

After walking around aimlessly from the theatre we went to Pans & Co for lunch. It's the European Quiznos but BETTER.. mmm I'm so hungry right now. (Chris is still fast asleep behind me)

Right behind the Pans & Company are alllll these tents down on a dock like thing hundreds of tents all for patios and resturants. We wanted to go to a cheap libaniese place butit was closed. Dammit.

THERES A CASINO IN SPAIN!!! But Chris won't let me go in there, for he knows the fate... (The fancy big fish is on top of the Casino)

I started this whole thing of taking pictures of myself even when Chris was there because he took far too long to take pictures.

Then we walked down the beach, so many naked ladies.

Also at the beach there was this quarter pipe with skateboarders... Its probably the most gorgeousplace any skater could skate. No wonder skateboarders call this place skate heaven. I'll be heading to the train station twice. Once to buy trainticket to madrid and second time when going to madrid and wait third time when coming back. So exciting.
I seem to have this sudden urge to scream SKATEBOARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when I see one... They always turn and look at me, and obviously I'm North American... And obviously they are. I hope I see someone famous, I probably wouldnt know if I saw one anyway...

And then in the corner of my eye I saw a neighbourhood. It was gorgeous. So we swerved out of the tourist attracted beach and went into the neighbourhood.

There's four days left. To be exact four days, 10 hours, and 20 odd minutes.

I can't sleep for longer than 4 hours for the past three nights. I can't believe I'm going I'm so damn excited! I'm kind of scared of my shopaholic ways. It's a disease.
